ABOUT THE KALAHARI BAR

KALAHARI, the First authentic Southern African Bar in the USA - is the watering-hole for 'homesick' Southern Africans and local Patriots alike. Hal & Dee Hofmeyr decided to create a 'home-away-from-home' and gathering place for all Southern Africans who want to stay in touch with their roots; appreciate Southern Africa's rich and colourful history - past and present; meet fellow Southern Africans, Americans and other Nationalities alike and most of all to just get together for a 'lekker jol!' (nice time).

KALAHARI is truly a very warm, cosy and friendly neighbourhood bar (bar was established over 40 years ago) and is nestled in a very centrally located quaint little plaza. KALAHARI is decorated in that unique exotic African flavour and all decor items are genuine - many come from Dee's old family farm in South Africa.

Enjoy Rugby, Football, South African movies and other International Sport on any of KALAHARI'S five TV screens, including one large projection screen (6ft x 4ft).

Every Saturday Night is Karaoke and "Kalahari Idol Night" and you are Welcome to 'Bring & Braai' (Bring and Barbeque) on our famous "KALAHARI EXPRESS"; Sing and dance and mingle with other folks interested in frequenting the Kalahari.



We have a Notice Board at KALAHARI where all kinds of information is obtained and exchanged and next to the Notice Board we have room to display your Business Cards as we believe in supporting our customers!

The friendly and professional South African and American bartenders will make you feel very welcome at the KALAHARI. KALAHARI is open 7 days a week (from 11am to 2am to Friday, 11am to 3am on Saturday and noon to 2am on Sunday)

KALAHARI also offers some exotic African cocktails such as 'Springbok' and Lion's Breath' and we have many Southern African specialities such as Wine, Beer, KWV Brandy and other imported items.
